Nakatanenga Dyneema winch rope, 10 mm x 30 m, with winch window and winch hook.
Steel or synthetic? This was more or less a question of faith when it comes to winch ropes.
However, by now the trend is clearly in favour of the High-Performance-Synthetic Fiber which compared to steel is superior
in proportion to strength and weight and has an advantage in handling.
The top performer is Dyneema, an UHMWPE (Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylen)
This material achieves the highest, weight-related strength of all synthetic fibers.
The two prime benefits versus steel are: Safety and Weight.
If a steel rope rips, then heavy sharp-edged metal lashes uncontrolled through the air, in the worst case at you or other people and can cause damage and severe injuries.
Should this new 2.3 kg light Dyneema rope really reach the 9.5 t breaking load, then the ends just drop to the ground.
Even if you just handle the steel rope you can get cuts through loose or damaged steel wires, it's not so with synthetic.
The much lighter Dyneema-rope not only relieves the operator but also the vehicle profits in the matter of statics and driving quality.
Dyneema-ropes are low-maintenance, washable, smooth to unroll and reel in due to only little friction.
Compared to other synthetic fibers, these fibres are tolerant against UV, Chemicals and oil, as well as against abrasion and material fatigue through kinks.
These fibres absorb hardly any water and are extreme flexible with only 5% stretch in length.
The high-quality workmanship reflects in the detail:
A highly compressed braided Kernmantel/cover protects the inside fibres from abrasion, dirt and damage and increases haptic qualities and durability many times over.
The 12 mm cable eye stiffener is made of stainless steel, as well as the 7 mm eyelet. Additional protection against abrasion and frictional heat through polyester-grommets on both rope ends. Hot shrink sealed to prevent abrasion or unravelling on the splicing.
The Nakatanenga winch rope is available in grey or orange.

The Nakatanenga winch window is an important part for the safe and convenient handling and use of a synthetic winch rope.
However, a winch window is not the same as a winch window. A high quality product improves the handling and durability of the rope even more.
The Nakatanenga winch window is made of hard-anodised aluminium. This coating not only protects against UV, corrosion and wear but also achieves outstanding slide properties.
With these properties, the rope window conforms the military standard MIL-A-8625F TYP III.
This winch window is much deeper than many other products on the market. This guarantees a smaller kink angle when reeling in the rope which spares the synthetic fibres and removes most of the dirt before the rope coils up.
