Quick Overview

The excellent driveability and the outstanding chassis of the Discovery make an uprating quite desirable and useful. The ultra-modern motor engineering provides an adequate reserve, especially since they use the equivalent V6 motor with significantly more power in the Jaguar models. A heavy 4WD however is quite often driven in medium speed range at full throttle this requires a precisely tuned uprating to avoid partial overload.
Cheaper control units which only increase the injection pressure on common rail systems are out of the question because the high-pressure pump is a sensitive and much stressed part which can’t cope with ongoing additional load. Furthermore a reprogramming of the engine control unit troubles the diagnostic system and the uprating gets lost with every software-update at the service.
Our system works with an additional control unit which influences the injection system and boost control. Primarily the timing of the opening on the injectors will be adjusted, not the pressure in the system. Furthermore the boost will be increased moderately.
This technique has outstanding benefits:
- No additional load on the injection system
- All sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) remain unaffected
- All functions of the sophisticated injection system remain retained
- This unit can be removed for diagnostic purposes or when changing the vehicle
These upratings are developed with great care and field tested over many thousand kilometres especially focused on the reliability because the Land Rover vehicles are often used as utility vehicle under load or for towing.
The uprating begins already in the low-end speed range; the maximum torque is already available at below 2,000 rpm. This improves the elasticity of the motor and the vehicle hardly loses speed on gradients. You are quickly at top speed which will be kept. The overall handling is more pleasant due to the improved agility of the Discovery.
The fuel consumption usually decreases with this uprating due to the increased driving in the lower speed range. Only when driving permanently at high load the fuel consumption may increase slightly. The service intervals remain unchanged.
